  • France Fly Orange – Euro style Jig

15/01/2022/i Video, Video - Flytying /af Adam Rieger

This is a variation on the competition style France Fly.

    Hook: size 16 jig hook
    Bead: 2.4 slotted tungsten silver
    Thread: 16/0 Sheer in Chestnut
Tail: Whiting CdL fibers 2 or 3.
    Body: beading cord orange
Collar: ice dub peacock cut small

The basic idea is what is key. You can mix up hook sizes, bead sizes, bead colors, body colors and collar color/material. Try out some proven combos: olive, black, chartreuse, orange…with subtle collars or flashier.

I fish this on a mono rig so very light line with all line or almost all off the water. I do this with either a 10ft 3wt or a tenkara rod. I tend to fish it in tandem as the dropper fly with a slimmer heavier fly that functions like shot with the chance of catching a fish.

    Have fun!
