Winter Fly Fishing- Last Open Water

Winter fly fishing can be challenging and cold. In most areas of the western US the stillwaters are frozen over solid. Here where I live is no exception. In order to search out the last of the open water in my area I had to find a spring fed pond that fortunately is full of nice rainbows. However, the first week of January this year has been exceptionally cold which made for even less open water than expected. With snow in the trees, steam off the pond, and hungry rainbows we had a blast fishing and filming. I still can’t quite feel the end of three of my fingers, but thats winter fishing right? :-)
