A great all purpose nymph from fly guru John Barr. The Copper John has become a staple in fly boxes all over the world. The copper john is a great fly design. It is durable, has a great profile, and is heavy enough to be fished without much added weight on the leader.
The fly can be tied in several colors. While not as flashy as other colors, our favorite color to tie the copper john is black.
This is one of our favorite flies to fish as an attractor nymph. Works on nearly any trout water. Best tied in sizes 14-20.
