Here we will be tying a Simple Freshwater Shrimp, a pattern by myself that I made when I got inspired by a pattern called Latex Shrimp. That Latex Shrimp I saw as a kid in the book Fishing Flies by John Buckland. I wanted to make a similar one, but in white or crystal instead of red like it’s in the book. I’ve fished this pattern often and especially when I’m fishing for Arctic char or seatrout, both of them might just take it! It’s been working just fine in brackish waters here in Iceland, where you can find live scuds and that kind of food. The funny fact is that we do not have freshwater shrimps in Iceland. However this patterns seems to work here just fine. I don’t know why since I can’t read the mind of them fishes out there, but it works. That’s the most important. It’s an easy pattern, simple to tie and beginners friendly one too. Worth to have in your box.

Hook: Ahrex FW541 #14
Thread: Semperfli Nano Silk 30D black.
Antennas: Pearl crystal flash, 2 strands.
Eyes: Bead chain or plastic eyes, coloured black.
Body: Pearl crystal flash, then covered with UV resin.
Head: Black.
