“The greatest gift you can give to another fisherman is to put a good fish back.”
— Lee Wulff

Here we will be tying the fly Sigga Svört. That would be translated as Siggi’s Black, but the pattern is named after Jóns nephew Sigurður H. Rúnarsson. Then we have more variations and colours of this fly that we’ll reveal in the future. Sigga Svört fly is a small streamer pattern that’s not known at all here in Iceland and has never been published unless one time on Jóns FB page while he lived. He made this fly few years back and never published the fly. However the fly was doing really good catch both brown trout and sea-run trout as well. There’s story with this fly that a guy got a box from Jón few years back and was guiding an American on Þingvellir lake fishing for the ferocious ice age brown trout there. They hadn’t got a bite and the American was getting pissed of because there were big fish that they’ve seen but it didn’t take anything. Then the guide Sigþór decided to let the customer try this fly, actually Sigþór did that just to throw something in the lake and didn’t have too much faith in the fly itself. It was only a matter of few seconds! The fly was struck by a huge brown trout that you can see picture of in the video. And later on Sigþór admitted to me and said, “never underestimate any fly from Jón Sigurðsson”. And dang he’s right on that! So Sigga Svört is an excellent pattern for both big brown trout and big seatrout both in running water or just still water. Sigga Svört is simple to tie and totally deserves a place in you fly box!
