Miller Nymph – Fly Tying Appalachian/Great Smoky Mountain Trout Patterns

26/09/2020/i Video, Video - Flytying /af Savage Flies

Another pattern from Pat Proffitt of Sevier County, Tennessee, the Miller Nymph is a lightly dressed, easy-to-tie fly that is excellent for the faster waters or deeper pools in the Smoky Mountain streams.

Hook: #6-16 Nymph
Thread: Rusty brown or orange
Weight: 0.015 or to match hook size
Tail: Brown goose biots
Body: Muskrat dubbing
Hackle: Brown rooster hackle

Savage Flies is a project with the mission of encouraging and teaching fly tying to as many people as possible. The channel is named after one of my western Maryland homewaters, the Savage River. I’ve been uploading at least three new videos a week (usually Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday).

Thanks for stopping by. Please let me know in the comments if you have any tips or tricks that could help me or anyone else watching.
