Blue Winged Olive Nymph

One of the more prevalent mayfly patterns, the Blue Winged Olive hatches in trout waters throughout the country. This easy-to-tie pattern can easily be changed to imitate almost any mayfly nymph.

Hook: #14-18 1x long nymph
Thread: Brown
Tail: Flank fibers, wood duck
Rib: Brown thread or floss
Body: Rabbit, light olive
Wingcase: Brown or natural duck
Thorax: Rabbit, light olive
Legs: Partridge, brown or natural
