  • Fly Fishing the Typical Brown and Rainbow Trout Stream

    15/10/2022/i Video, Video - Documentary /af jensenflyfishing

The truth is that when I opened up the folder for this video I wasn’t sure when I could edit and share the video. It is an incredibly generic stream that literally exists in every trout bearing state, province and region globally. At first blush I looked at each of the fish, each moment and thought “hmmm, nothing really stands out with any kind of magic”. As I completed the edit I came back to the video and saw its value: this is THE everywhere and anywhere creek. Set south of Coyhaique, Chile, it could be any western state or province in N America. It could be anywhere on the east side of New Zealand’s S Island. It could be anywhere in Chilean or Argentinian Patagonia. If you can break down this stream and focus on the water types and structure types as we do in this video on this creek, you can fish any small trout stream. It is the prototypical stream of “trout have to be right there”. And for the most part they were.
