  • Fishing For The Mythical Milkfish On Alphonse Island, Seychelles

25/09/2020/i Rejs og Fisk, Video /af Sportquest Holidays

This hard-fighting saltwater species was almost classed as a myth when it came to landing them on the fly until the guys over at the Alphonse group worked out how to land these beasts. Many of snapped tippets, spooled reels and 100s of flies later, the code was cracked and these monsters started to be landed.

Offering the angler a down-right dirty fight from start to finish with sharp turns, long runs and aerial displays, the Milkfish really isn’t a species to underestimate. Anglers realised the trick to these fish was to fish a small algae imitation which is the main food Milkfish graze on with a small bead towards the head to imitate an egg sack or crustacean that’s caught up in some floating algae, creating a more protein-rich meal in the eyes of the Milkfish.

Are you looking to experience this heart-racing action on the flats of Alphonse Island for yourself? Why not take a look at our full tour page which also shows you a great range of other species that you can set your eyes on when out on the flats including Permit, Bonefish, Wahoo and Triggerfish to just name a few of the well-known species. If you have any questions on the Alphonse Island fishing trips we offer then contact us in the office, our experienced team will be happy to help you with any queries you have.
