Euro Nymphing the Provo River for Big Brown Trout
Utah’s Provo River is home to some amazing fish. It has epic dry fly hatches (green drakes, PMDs, golden stones, caddis, BWO’s, and midges of course) but most days I prefer to nymph European styles. There are opportunities for French nymphing, Czech nymphing, as well as traditional suspension techniques. As one of my clients Malcom once said “The middle Provo is a nymph fisherman’s paradise!” There are boulder strewn patches that hold large trout, as well as beautiful picturesque bends that belong on postcards. It is where I guide in the summer, and find solitude in the winter. If you haven’t had a chance to fish the Provo river, I highly recommend you make the trip.
If you are looking for a guide I would be happy to show you the Provo river at its best. For details, questions, and professional inquiries contact me at
