In the late eighties, the local flyfisher and flytyer along the banks of the famous river Mörrum Lars Terkildsen tied a bunch of the famous Ullsocken flies in a new mixture of ginger, brown, and orange – today known as the colour Mörrum Orange or Mörrum Ginger. The body of the flies were tied with […]

Hot tubes for salmon, trout, bass and other predators. Spring salmon and trout season is here. Grab your vise and stock your fly box with a variety of catchy colors for the new season. The soft hackle tube is my conversion of the late great Jack Gartside’s Soft Hackle Streamer. I have tied several of […]
As spring arrives and the shallow coastal water gets warmer, large numbers of prey appear and predatory fish will follow. Small baitfish and shrimp are on the menu for e.g. sea run brown trout here in Scandinavia, but it can often be a good idea to move a bit from the classic provocation colors, which […]

The trophy for most salmon fishermen is the spring salmon. It comes fresh from the sea and is in absolute top condition, and brilliantly silvershiny – a true dream-trophy. The first salmon to return back to the rivers and streams are usually also the largest, but unfortunately there are usually only quite a few salmon […]
This pattern is very similar to the English pattern the Red Tag. We don’t know if Carrere was aware of the English pattern or came up with this on his own. The major difference is in the hackle which is tied in Spanish style. See my video on Moscas Ahogadas to understand more. Hook: I […]
There are opposing forces at play when fishing for pike with a fly rod. On one hand, it is fascinating and alluring that the pike likes to take a relatively large prey and thus also potentially a huge fly. On the other hand, the joy of fly fishing itself can be jeopardized if the fly […]
