Have you ever found yourself wondering if the fly reel drags on your fishing rod are actually sealed? If so, this video is for you! In this video, we’ll discuss the differences between sealed and unsealed fly reel drags, how they work, and why it’s important to understand the difference.

First up, let’s start by discussing what exactly a drag system is used for in a fly reel. A drag system is essentially a mechanism that allows an angler to control the tension applied to their line as they fight a fish. By finely tuning this tension through adjustments of the drag knob, an angler can use their rod to effectively battle with any size fish without risking breakage of the line or tackle.

Now when it comes to sealed vs unsealed drag systems, both have their pros and cons. Sealed drag systems provide superior protection from water and dust particles which helps increase longevity over time. On the other hand, unsealed drag systems contain fewer parts and are often more lightweight than their counterparts – making them easier to maintain while on the water.

The bottom line is that whether you prefer sealed or unsealed drags ultimately depends on personal preference and type of fishing being done – but regardless you should always aim to clean and lube your reel regularly as part of normal maintenance routine in order ensure consistent performance out on the water!

We hope this video gave you some insight into choosing fly reel drags for your next outing – until next time happy fishing!
