Scandinavian shrimp-flies have shown their worth over most of the globe, and the popular Pattegris (the Pig) has proberbly caught fish all over the world – but a new Danish coastal fly is gaining the same popularity. The skilled Danish coastal fisherman and fly tyer Troels Holstein Kaa has over several years developed a palmer-hacklet shrimp fly that should work well in all seasons – it should be easy to tie and able to withstand many hours of use without breaking. The combination with the classic shrimp colors tan/ginger and then the long vivid orange rubber legs and the fluorescent head has secured Høtyven a place in many coastal flyfishers boxes and for a good reason – it is extremely effective even for “tricky trout”.
