Fly Tying Wright’s Royal Fly Pattern for Brook, Brown, Cutthroat, and Rainbow Trout
The Wright’s Royal was designed by Phil Wright in the 1970’s. The fly was designed for fishing the Big Hole River trout but is a great trout fly for trout everywhere. The fly is tied using the familiar “Royal” peacock and red in a trude style dry fly. The wing may be tied with calf hair, elk, deer, badger or racoon hair. The hackle used should either be a Cree colored hackle or the traditional Coachman brown.
