Dry&Wet CDC Ant
I had difficulties catching an army fish, Chinese version of masheer. Extremely spooky species, happens that leader in the air above them scares them away…
So i tried dries nothing happened, occasional look at the fly and thats all… Nymphs were ok if fish was at the bottom. My goal was sight fishing… So last time i found them in shallows, i got few fish with dry fly submerged and stripped slowly… (wet sinks too quickly). Solution was so obvious, light hook with fly on it that can either sink or float…. Since there are lot of trees around and above river and its windy too my first choice was an ant pattern.
I decided to use white CDC since it gets translucent when submerged and its still visible when on or under surface. Flash is there to imitate ants shiny wings…i think its trigger feature at the same time as the body shape…
Peacock is there since is dark enough to imitate ants but shiny as well to imitate some other bugs perhaps…
Hope you will enjoy this one,
Stay safe and tight lines
