Every year we run into cicadas in New Zealand. There are 42 species of cicadas in New Zealand that inhabit quite different ecosystems and each has its own size, color, shape. They all have one thing in common though – an unmistakable chorus! The big green cicadas of the beech forests can leave you yelling to hear each other, while the smaller light green cicadas are usually lighter songs on a breeze through the grass. No matter, Kiwi trout love them and travel considerable distance to pounce when they’re on the water. Amelia finds a fun, colorful, active trout on a spring creek to play with.
