Big Bead Bugs
High river levels can mean using a heavy point fly to get down through the fast water. Putting a large tungsten bead onto a small hook will block the gape and give poor hooking. Big Bead Bugs use a large tungsten bead attached to the hook above the eye on a loop of nylon leaving the hook gape open. This method of weighting flies can be used with small jig hooks or standard hooks an allows them to be fished point up, minimising fly loss to snags. Thanks for watching.
