Blue Back Baitfish
Neutral baitfish imitations, or variants in the colors green/chartreuse or blue are a “must-have” in the fly box, and can be a very effective fly type in both fresh and salt water. In this video we once again have the skilled Dutch fly tyer Sander Zuidinga behind the tying-vice to demonstrate his simple and very effective approach to a good-looking imitation of a baitfish. Sander is a big fan of the soft material Nayat, which gives a good profile – and combined with the flattened hackle and the stiff fibers from the bucktail creates a good imitation of baitfish with a good transparency and profile – a must in the fly box.
