04/03/2022/i Podcast /af flyfishingjourneys.com

https://media.blubrry.com/flyfishingjournals/content.blubrry.com/flyfishingjournals/Pat_Dorsey_mixdown.mp3Pat Dorsey is considered by many as one of the leading knowledge sources in fly fishing today. As a professional guide, author, and speaker he travels around the country and beyond fishing and teaching the sport he loves. As a partner and guide at the Blue Quill Angler he bases out of Evergreen, CO.  He has authored four fly fishing books: Fly Fishing Tailwaters, Tying & Fishing Tailwater Flies, Colorado Guide Flies & Fly Fishing Guide to the South Platte River.
In this podcast Pat offers us Five Winter Fly Fishing Tips. Before we get to the tips, we review the many diverse sections of the South Platte River including Cheeseman Canyon, below the Spinney Reservoir, Eleven Mile Canyon and Deckers.
As the South Platte River is a tailwater, we talk about how to fish a tailwater and what similarities you can find between the South Platte and other tailwaters.
Finally, we discussed some guide style flies, especially midges, as they are particularly important in the winter. We hone in on your equipment set up for fishing these tiny flies.
