Apologies for the length of this video, as you can see from the materials list it is a fairly involved pattern and there is a lot going on. As with many of my long-tailed lures the emphasis is on movement. When tying a fly I always try to get a mental picture of how the pattern looks in the water to the fish. This is going to generate a bucket load of movement, for sure.
The idea and basis of the fly comes from the Humungus pattern which is a proven killer on both large and small Stillwaters alike. This of course is a departure from the sleek thin body of the original fly it is tied with big predatory Brown Trout in mind and I am keen to get on the large reservoirs to give it a swim. I have to say I am quietly confident!
The name although I am sure is already taken by another fly pattern comes from the movie ‘Megamind’. Those that may have seen the film will get it, if you haven’t I can heartily recommend the film with or without the kids.
