Fly Tying, The Ugly Crab

Here are instructions for a version of the Ugly Crab, a pattern which I found on www.feathersandfluoro.com…. I’ve tied a grey and brown version, but you can adjust the colours, size and weight to suit the waters you are fishing.

Hook: Gamakatsu SL12
Thread: Pink, orange or tan
Eyes: Red beads on mono
Mouth parts: Orange marabou
Claws: Natural rabbit strips and tan marabou
Body: EP fibre or sparkle yarn
Legs: Silli legs
Keel: 20lb mono
Weight: Tungsten beads
