    En août dernier, JP Tessier, Alexis Pageau et Hélène Phillion se sont rejoints à Eeyou Istchee Baie-James au bord du Lac Robineau afin de partir en expédition de canot et remonter la rivière Canotaicane. C’est la meilleure période de l’été pour explorer ce vaste territoire pour y pêcher, parfaire nos connaissances des traditions issues de la nation crie et assouvir notre soif d’aventure.

    Partie intégrante du territoire cri, l’exploration de cette splendeur naturelle ne saurait être complète sans une incursion dans la culture locale. La richesse et l’immensité des lieux imposent humilité et respect, deux valeurs chères à la nation crie qui peuple la région, aux limites de la taïga et de l’Arctique.

    Cet immense territoire bordé de majestueuses forêts d’épinettes noires s’étendant sur plus de 16 000 kilomètres2, compte plus de 5 000 lacs et rivières spectaculaires. D’ailleurs Nibiischii ᓂᐲᔅᒌ, nom de la corporation opérant la réserve faunique, signifie « Terre des Eaux », l’endroit où naissent les grandes eaux naturelles du Nord.

    En explorant les richesses naturelles de la réserve faunique des lacs Albanel-Mistassini-et-Waconichi, c’est encore et toujours ce même sentiment de grandeur et d’humilité qui nous habite à la vue d’un spectacle aussi majestueux, empreint d’authenticité.
