Bucktail – turning to the dark side – fly tying special

08/09/2021/i Video, Video - Flytying /af Michael Jensen

Bucktail is a fabulous material for fly tying and jig tying. But most of us probably primarily use the long hairs on the backside of the bucktail. In this video I give a couple of reasons why you should use the darker hair on the material. These hairs are underrated, but have a lot of potential. And… besides… they are there for the taking – and account for even more bang for your bucks.

This video includes a couple of examples on flies tied with that philosophy in mind. These are only shown in speeded tying sequences, but will be up on our channel as full tying sbs videos next week.

Thanks for watching

Michael and Ulla
