Ahrex FLY TYING – The 72

In todays fly tying video Oliver Oelze is back behind the vise with a Killer baitfish pattern.

In Olli´s own words:

This is the original “72”.

The 72 is my invention, made about 20 years ago, always improved a bit. An absolute all-round fly that fishes all year round, and it is very, very successful.
I have tied and sold thousands of them, and my customers have fished and caught fish almost all over the world. The bird fur and the segment feathers plays very seductive in the water, and the eyes are tied down and makes the fly jigging. It can be fished quickly and slowly.
Best variant Ginger with green uv eyes.

Materials used:

Hook: Ahrex NS 110 # 6
Thread: UTC 70 Light Tan.
Tail: Senyo´s laser Dub Fluo Hot Orange, Mallard Natur, Dachs, Whiting Bird Fur Ginger,Flashabou.
Body: Hare´s Ice Dub Gray.
Wing: Rooster Feather Ginger.
Head: Bead Chains Fluo Green, Hare´s Ice Dub Gray.
