I recently found this pattern in the Gateway Sporting Goods Company’s 1941 catalog but it was also featured in Ray Bergman’s “Trout” and Mary Orvis Marbury’s “Favorite Flies and Their Histories.”

Thread: Black
Tail: Black duck slip
Rib: Black silk (or thread)
Body: Orange silk
Hackle: Black hen
Wing: Black duck
Cheeks: Jungle cock (optional)
